Hello, I'm Emma
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. I'm an expat based in Vancouver, Canada.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn’t in the original plan. As with many international assignments, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — new processes, new habits, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the fly. Gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built SilverMossField
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guides or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family point of view.
This site aims to fill that void—practical guidance grounded in real life in Canada.
What This Site Stands For (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from life in Canada
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated only when something truly changes
This site is NOT:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Canada continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue noting what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Vancouver or anywhere in Canada, feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emma
